This volume compiles five contributions to regional quaternary geology in NE Germany and different specific topics along field excursions in Brandenburg and Mecklenburg scheduled for the DEUQUA 2020 conference in Potsdam. Two articles will discuss ice dynamics and present geology and geomorphological features in the SW sector and southern margin of the maximum ice advance during the Weichselian Glaciation (Lüthgens and Hardt; Juschus et al.). One has a focus on geomorphological and periglacial features in the area around Potsdam (Diekmann et al.). Two contributions will address more specific topics including (i) monitoring climate signal transfer into varved lake sediments and tree rings (Brauer et al.) and (ii) new geoarchaeological findings in the mining regions of lower Lusatia (Hirsch et al.). A brief introduction to the region will be given in the special issue (Brauer and Schwab).
